STUDYING WITH ME
Having taught for 8 years I have a zest for sharing my knowledge and passion for all things musical. I seek to equip students with the performance, composition and reading skills that will see them excel no matter which path they take in music. An engaged and determined teacher, I thrive teaching both one-on-one and in groups scenarios.
RUDIMENTS
Rudiments are fundamental in learning the drum kit. They are the building blocks to achieving your own voice and repertoire on the drum kit.
STYLES
There is no downside to learning multiple styles of music. Your reading, coordination and independence, dynamics, vocabulary will greatly improve. Also, if you pursue a career in music, you will be much more hireable!
SONG LEARNING
I can teach you techniques I have picked up over the years that helps students learn songs quickly and efficiently.
ODD TIME SIGNATURES
Understanding odd time signatures can be a very beneficial to your playing. It will help improve your repertoire and creativity as a drummer and you will achieve a deeper knowledge of time.
READING/CHARTING
Being able to read is not a necessity as a drummer, but if you want to make music your career, it is a great trait to have. From reading Big Band to Nashville charts, there are many variations which is covered in our lessons together.
INDEPENDENCE
This comes hand in hand with learning other styles of music e.g. Latin Music. In our lessons, I can show and explain the most effective ways to improve your independence quickly and efficiently.
CREATIVITY/ VOCABULARY
In our lessons, I can show you how to take simple ideas and expand them into many different ideas. This is what helps you create your own voice on the instrument and adopt your own signature sound.
